Also a huge thank you to Mrs. Gee and her volunteers for always doing such a wonderful job decorating and running the book fair.

Thanks to a Malpass mini grant that Mrs. Gee received, she brought to our elementary school Magician Baffling Bill. He did an amazing magic show for all our elementary students and staff. The students had a blast and enjoyed seeing Gus the bunny! It was so good to see the students really engaged and enjoying the show!

The Eat the Rainbow Challenge at EJES continues! Orange you glad? The challenge is a way to encourage us all to eat delicious fruits and veggies that make up the colors of a rainbow. Colorful fruits and vegetables contain disease-fighting, health-boosting nutrients! This week… Opt for Orange & Yellow! Wednesdays during the Challenge are ETR Count Days! Students who eat a serving of the featured foods (like yellow peppers, cantelope, carrots) will be awarded tickets and entered into a drawing for weekly prizes! Students who bring their lunch can participate too!

Congratulations to Mr. Matthew Hamilton -- for receiving the NEA Member Benefits Award for Teaching Excellence! What an honor to receive this prestigious award in the company of so many fantastic teachers. While it may be humbling to him and a surprise, those of us who know him -- we get it! Way to represent Mr. Hamilton. Red Devil Proud!

Mr. Hamilton
Dear East Jordan Families and Students, I couldn’t be more excited to share some incredible news—our very own Matt Hamilton will be honored at the NEA Foundation Gala this Friday, February 14th at 7:30 PM! Matt will be in Washington, D.C., to accept the Horace Mann Award for Teaching Excellence, a tremendous recognition of his dedication and impact on our students, school, and community. During the event, a special video will highlight Matt’s passion, his work, and the amazing students of East Jordan Public Schools. We will also find out which of the five Horace Mann Award recipients will be named this year’s NEA Member Benefits Award for Teaching Excellence! Regardless of the outcome, what an honor to be considered for this prestigious award! No matter what happens Friday night, Matt is already a winner in the hearts of all those he has forever changed right here in East Jordan. His hard work and passion have put East Jordan Public Schools on the map, and we couldn’t be prouder to have him represent our community on a national stage. You won’t want to miss this special night—join us in celebrating by watching the livestream on YouTube: 📺 Livestream link: www.youtube.com/@neafoundation 🎥 Event Preview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPRnfOwfJSw Let’s rally behind Matt and show our support for this well-deserved recognition! Our Elementary Red Devils were RED-y to kick off our Eat the Rainbow Challenge in the EJ Cafe this week! Wednesday was our weekly "ETR Count Day" and students earned tickets for eating a serving of red fruits or vegetables from the hot lunch line (penne pasta with marinara sauce, cherry apple sauce, cherry cobbler, and fresh red apples) or the salad bar (two types of radish, peppers, tomatoes, and pickled red onions). Students who brought lunch from home earned tickets for their healthy choices as well! Way to go, RED Devils! We’re on our way to Eating the Rainbow, color by color, over the next few weeks! And, along the way, fueling our bodies with plant phytonutrients that contribute to vibrant health and keep our students RED-y to learn!
